Tuesday, August 18, 2026 (9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET)

Learn practical ways to turn audience research into real newsroom action. Join Ariel Zirulnick, an entrepreneurial journalist and consultant who works at the intersection of editorial, audience, and product strategy to help news organizations build more sustainable, community-centered futures. Drawing on her experience at LAist, Membership Puzzle Project, and WhereBy.Us, as well as her work coaching newsroom leaders and consulting with organizations like LION Publishers and News Product Alliance, Ariel will share how to design research around real business challenges, integrate it into your newsroom's workflow, and measure its impact.

About the event

In this 60-minute session, you'll learn how to:

● Identify the business challenge your audience research should actually solve

● Pinpoint what you need to know about your audience to address that challenge

● Choose the right outputs to turn research into something your newsroom can use

● Weave research into the process of making those outputs, not just the planning stage

● Measure whether applying the research is actually making a difference
