Indiegraf
Community Guidelines

Last updated: August 25, 2026

Welcome to the Indiegraf community! Our community comprises independent publishers, their staff, and volunteer teams dedicated to improving communities by building strong news outlets that connect and inform. This Community Guidelines outlines our expectations for community behaviour and the steps for reporting unacceptable behaviour. It applies to all interactions within the community, including online and offline events.

We are committed to providing a welcoming and inspiring community for our entire network, staff and communities.

Our Mission
Indiegraf is a network of community publishers pooling technology, capital, audience, and revenue resources to accelerate growth. We aim to make local news entrepreneurship a sustainable and rewarding career choice for journalists everywhere, ensuring that quality journalism thrives in communities of all sizes.

Our Values
Indiegraf adheres to and promotes the following values in all our actions and activities and we encourage all members of the Indiegraf community to do the same.

- Equity: we are committed to changing media ownership to contribute to a more diverse media ecosystem and equitable democracy. As it relates to our team, Indiegraf is committed to creating a culture that is supportive and inclusive of all people, full stop.
- Test and learn mentality: we are always listening, strive to make data-driven decisions, practice humility, seek hypotheses, respond to the needs of our publishers, team and other stakeholders, and are obsessed with learning and documentation. This means viewing our community and culture as something to be continually nurturing, learning about and evolving. We will intentionally build systems and processes that facilitate regular feedback at all levels of the company.
- Growth mindset: we are hungry for growth and driven by results. We value accountability, clarity and direct feedback, so we can take chances and focus.
- Efficiency: think scalable, replicable, documented and cost-effective. We avoid over-building. We respect our team members’ time.
- Well-being and connection: we all have a role in collaboratively contributing to a culture of well-being and respect. We value collaboration and connection.

Community Engagement
Our community engages through various platforms, including Slack, meetings, and email. We expect all members to adhere to the following guidelines across all these platforms:

Encourage Positive Interaction

We prohibit discrimination based on these grounds.

Indiegraf is committed to a community environment that is free of bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, violence, abuse, and discrimination, and one in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.

Every community member has the right to an environment that is free from harassment in any form wherever members interact. Bullying and harassment are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Violating the Community Guidelines can result in consequences, including potential removal from the community and contract termination.

- Conflict Resolution: When appropriate, we may engage in a conflict resolution process to address disputes amicably before they escalate.
- Community Values: Our community values and principles guide behaviour and decision-making within the community.
- Feedback Mechanism: Community members can give feedback on the Community Guidelines and suggest improvements.

Clarification
This Community Guidelines is not intended to dictate how anyone thinks or feels about any issue. Instead, it ensures that all parties engaging in work within the Indiegraf community do so with a common understanding and respect for one another. This is how we choose to conduct ourselves in this community.

Conclusion
Thank you for being a part of the Indiegraf community. Together, we can create a supportive, inclusive, and productive environment that fosters the growth of independent news outlets and the communities they serve.
