Influencer Collaboration for Newsrooms: Strengthening Community Trust
Missed the live session? Watch it on demand!
This session will walk you through strategies and frameworks to help you build stronger collaborations with trusted messengers, influencers, and community partners. You’ll come away with actionable ideas and exercises you can adapt to your own newsroom.
Led by Liz Worthington — Director of Product Strategy at the American Press Institute and a former journalist and editor with nearly two decades of experience — this session is designed for publishers and journalists who want to strengthen their local impact by working more effectively with the people and networks their audiences already trust.
You will learn who trusted messengers really are, how to structure high-performing teams around collaboration, and how to apply creative thinking tools and frameworks developed through API’s Influencer Learning Cohort.

About the event
In this session, you’ll learn:
✅ Who trusted messengers and influencers really are in a local context.
✅ How to assemble the right team and define roles that make collaboration successful.
✅ How to apply creative thinking exercises from the cohort, including the pyramid framework, a roadmap for roles, and the character traits needed to sustain collaboration.
You’ll also get a look at some of the same exercises cohort participants used to sharpen their approaches, giving you tools you can bring straight back to your newsroom.
