The latest Indiegraf product updates give publishers more flexibility over their homepages and how they display recent articles, while also improving the overall user experience.
In this post, we explore the new features in Indiegraf Blocks and IndieWebsite, with demos from Product Designer Anastasiya Razumyeyeva.
Latest Posts
- Adds multi-column layout functionality
- Publishers can now choose the number of columns for displaying the latest articles. You can select up to 5 columns and set the total number of posts to feature. For example, to create a 2 x 4 grid, select 2 columns and 8 posts.
- Replaces manual image size controls with responsive auto-resizing
- Now, images will resize responsively according to settings like the number of columns, size, and width of the container that the latest post block is placed in
- Adds image position controls for top or left alignment in the block toolbar
- Adjust the placement of the thumbnail image for the best alignment with your homepage layout.
- Adds separate image position controls for mobile
- By default, the image will be set at the top in the mobile layout, regardless of what is selected for desktop. Now, publishers have the option to override that and change the image position to the left.
- Adds responsive text size controls
- Publishers can now select from four different sets of text sizes, from small to extra large. This mainly has an effect on the title sizes, and in some cases, on the byline sizes. These settings mostly affect desktop view, whereas mobile text sizes remain relatively similar throughout these four options.
Sponsored Label
- Updates sponsored content and post format badge styling in post titles
- Now, the sponsored content label takes the form of a badge that is displayed before the post title, similar to the audio/video label. But it takes on an alternating color, so if the post is both sponsored and a video format, the labels are distinguishable from each other.
- This update has also been applied to the Latest Posts block, Featured Post, and Recirculation block.
- Updates sponsored post label color to match new title badge
Default Thumbnail
- This update allows publishers to set a default image to be displayed whenever a post lacks a featured image.
- Note that the same default thumbnail will be applied to all posts that don’t have a featured image selected.
- Makes the homepage appear more complete and visually consistent, avoiding image gaps in the content.
- Not available on the Featured Post Block, since it already displays a post prominently and could cause redundancy next to the header.
Sticky Header
- Remains at the top of the page as users scroll, improving navigation and access to key elements.
- Makes the “Support Us” button always visible and accessible.
- Assigns responsive maximum dimensions to logos in the header so things won’t break!
